How durable is microcement?

Durability depends on the complete system, substrate, application quality, expected wear, sealer and maintenance. A floor, benchtop and feature wall experience different conditions and should be specified accordingly. SurfaceLab does not apply one unsupported performance claim to every system or application.

Can microcement scratch or stain?

Microcement should not be described as scratch-proof or stain-proof. The protective system can improve wear, stain resistance and cleanability, but performance varies with the sealer, use and maintenance. Spills, dragging objects, abrasive cleaning and concentrated wear can still affect a finished surface.

How should microcement surfaces be cleaned?

Use a soft cloth or mop and a cleaner compatible with the installed protective system. Remove spills promptly and avoid abrasive tools. Because care requirements can vary by sealer and application, follow the current care information supplied for the completed SurfaceLab system.

Can I apply microcement myself, or should I use a professional?

Advanced DIY customers and experienced trades may be able to apply suitable systems with the correct guidance, tools and preparation. Difficult substrates, floors, wet areas, exterior work and high-consequence applications require more technical judgement. DIY suitability should be assessed for the actual surface rather than assumed from the project size.
